George Lyon, Liberal Democrat MEP for Scotland, joined 6,000 people at The Wave climate change march in Glasgow. The thousands who marched from Bellahouston Park to Kelvingrove called for an international agreement on tackling climate change to be agreed at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

Mr Lyon was joined by around 30 fellow Liberal Democrats on the protest including Liberal Democrat climate change spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP, Glasgow MSP Robert Brown and Glasgow North candidate Katy Gordon.

Commenting after the march, Mr Lyon said:

"It's great to see so many people come to shout about climate change.

"The message I will take to Copenhagen could not be clearer. People want a global deal to combat climate change, they are watching and are counting on us to deliver. Failure really is not an option.

"A desire to protect the environment is in the DNA of Liberal Democrats. It is not surprising, therefore, that we had the largest presence of any mainstream party at the march.

"Liberal Democrats have once again shown voters that if they care about the environment and want something done to stop climate change, then ours is the only party they can count on."
