George Lyon in Copenhagen: Obama's speech not enough

12.47.57pm GMT Fri 18th Dec 2009

Commenting after President Obama addressed the United Nations climate change summit in Copenhagen, Liberal Democrat MEP for Scotland George Lyon said:

"Obama has thrown down the gauntlet to China on transparency. But we also need an assurance that America will make more concessions.

"President Obama's speech was upbeat but moved America forward by inches only: and we need every country to go the extra mile.

"As he said himself: 'we're short on time'."
